Hamburger Hot Dish
We all know the friendly helping hand of the mascot from america’s favorite one pan meal. This is my version of the classic dish inspired by watching the great show Struggle Meals and Frankie Celenza's version.
Makes 4 servings
Ingredients
1 lb Stoysich® Ground Beef
1 cup white onion, diced
1/2 tablespoon hot pickled peppers, finely minced
2 tablespoons Amore® Tomato Paste
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon RealSalt® Garlic Pepper Seasoning
1/2 teaspoon RealSalt® Seasoning Salt
1 teaspoon Bourbon Barrel Foods® Smoked Paprika
1 1/2 cups Barilla® Whole Wheat Elbow Pasta
2 cups beef stock
1 teaspoon Gray Poupon® Dijon Mustard
1 teaspoon Cajun Power® Garlic Sauce, Original
1/4 cup Straus Family Creamery® Sour Cream
1 cup frozen spinach, chopped
1 1/2 cups Kraft® Sharp Cheddar Cheese, shredded
salt and pepper, to taste
Directions
Cook the ground beef in a large skillet over medium high heat until no longer pink. Drain and set aside. With the skillet still over medium high heat, add the onion and hot pickled peppers. Saute until the onions are cooked, ~5 minutes. When cooked, add the beef back into the skillet.
Reduce heat and add the tomato paste, seasonings, pasta and stock to the pan and stir well to combine.
Cover and simmer for ~20 minutes until pasta is cooked through. If it looks a little dry add a little water or stock until the pasta is cooked al dente or to your liking.
Add spinach, sour cream, mustard and the Garlic Sauce. Mix to combine and heat for a few minutes.
Stir in the shredded cheese until well combined and melted.
Taste for salt and pepper.
Notes
- You can make this a Chicken or Turkey Hot dish, by replacing the ground beef with ground chicken or turkey and rather than using beef stock, use chicken stock.
