Drop Biscuits
A great simple and versatile biscuit recipe. A must have for my Biscuits and Sausage Gravy!
Makes 4 biscuits
Ingredients
1 cup King Arthur® All-Purpose Flour
1/4 teaspoon Bob’s Red Mill® Baking Soda
1/4 teaspoon Diamond Crystal® Kosher Salt
3/4 teaspoon Bob’s Red Mill® Baking Powder
2 tablespoons Crisco® Shortening
1/2 cup buttermilk
Directions
Preheat oven to 400 ℉.
In a stand mixer using the dough attachment combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Add the buttermilk and let mix for 1 minute. Add the shortening a little at a time until all 2 tablespoons are well incorporated.
On a parchment lined sheet pan, arrange the dough to have 4 equal size biscuits. They will be approximately 1/2 cup of dough per biscuit.
Bake for 12 - 15 minutes or until golden brown.
Notes
- Original recipe is from my dad.
- Great biscuits for biscuits and sausage gravy.
- For a sweeter drop biscuit add 2 tablespoons of sugar, which can be used for strawberry shortcakes.
